Things I did not know.
Harbor Freight - I really like having tools on hand to work on my cars and this is my favorite store.
Did you know - If you use a 20% off coupon at Harbor Freight, the register always seems to deduct the 20% off the item that has the lowest price, and you only get 20% off "ONE" item that is not already reduced. Most larger priced items like compressors are nto included in the 20% off deal.
Did you know - If you buy several items using other coupons then pay at the register, then reach in your buggy to get the item you want to use the 20% off coupon on, they will not let you until your next visit.
Winn Dixie - Does not do double or triple coupons in the State of Florida.
Did you know - If you have a register receipt from Winn Dixie with a coupon printed on the back for 24 cans of "Mighty Dog" canned dog food, you cannot get two 12 can packs (that equals 24) instead, they will not honor the coupon. Winn Dixie does not carry a 24 pack of "Mighty Dog" canned dog food so that is why I picked up two 12 packs. You have to get 24 individual cans before they honor that coupon.
Did you know - Winn Dixie in Green Cove Springs Florida has changed their image recently for some reason. They never cared too much if I said "I would go to Publix" to get something instead of buy it there. The two girls behind the deli counter are really super sales people and very helpful when buying chicken wings, cole slaw of sliced luncheon meat. They will cook up chicken wings on the spur of the moment which takes 15 - 30 minutes to prepare. The guys in the meat department are also very helpful and I like finding the bergain discounts on shrimp, BOGO fish and reduced price on salmon. People at the registers are standing there waiting for you now more so that in the past.
I don't know if Winn Dixie got a new manager or what happened but I do like it better.
I still like the fruits and vegetables better at Publix and Publix will take the $5.00 off register receipt from Winn Dixie.
I also like the gas discounts I get on gasoline from Winn Dixie.
Did you know - All nursing homes are not the same, do your homework and find out which is rated higher than the others. You may want to get a power of attorney to sign documents for the person entering the nursing home, and remeber the power of attorney is no good after that person is deceased. All Saints Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Florida is a wonderful place and they do take exceptional care of the residents there.
Did you know - that if you have to put someone in a nursing home like we did and you want to place that person under medicaid then you have to sign that "person" and all their possessions over to medicaid? You can put that person in a private room but that costs you (or the family) extra money out of your pocket so nearly all rooms have two people in them. All of that person 's cash may have to be used to pay for the room before mediciad will pay. You MUST keep less than $2,000 in that person's account and you are only allowed to spend her money on that person for clothing, shampoo, and other things he/she needs. If there is a life insurance policy on that person then you have to cash it in and the money goes to the nursing home (or medicaid). His/her monthly social security and other income has to be handed over to pay the nursing home and then medicaid picks up the remainder of the $6,200 a month charge. This is for a room with two people in it and I assume the other person had to pay the $6,200 a month also. I think that person gets $30 dollars or so for spending money. I just wonder why we even bother with having a savings account or 401k if the government may end up with it in the end. When you do invest in a 401k for retirement then you may lose it all. Savings accounts do not keep up with inflation so that is a bad ides. Property may be a good investment but remeber taxes come due yearly and they can be raised by the county or whomever wants part of your money. I may just go on vacation and spend it on myself.
If you are like me then you start out with big ideas as a kid to graduate from high school, go to college, get a nice job to make lots of money, get married and have kids, then get your goals in line for retirment so you can travel the country in an RV. I just never thought about all the other things I would have to do to get to where I am today, and what I still have to get done before I buy an RV. Life has obstacles that jump right out in front of you when you least expect them. Some are good things and some are bad.
