I work on cars at home as a hobby.
I have been working on several cars in my garage and finally I am getting somewhere with them.
The first car I started with is a 1967 Ford Mustang with a 200ci six cylinder motor and automatic transmission. It had been wrecked in the front and the fenders, hood, grill and radiator support pieces were all removed. it has been in my yard for about 5 years now waiting its turn for repair. It was supposed to be the first car to get repaired but the others pushed themselves in front of the line. But its turn is coming soon. A 1952 Ford 8n Tractor is sitting there waiting too. I seem to get started on a project and others get in the way but I am determined to get these all fixed. My grandson also has a 1973 VW bug he is working on that will need a lot of my attention real soon. Where does all the time go?
I got a 1975 MGB from a family member and have done a lot of rust killing and part replacements in the past 4-5 years. Replaced the convertible top, battery, passenger mirror, gas tank, brake job where I replaced the master cylinder, rebuilt rear wheel cylinders, rebuilt clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Welded a couple broken body pieces and beat the tar out of the read end where the metal was badly bent. Got it all looking nice and painted those areas, and they are a slightly different color than the rest of the car. Bought a bunch of rubber gaskets and seals to replace worn out ones in the doors where the windows slide up and down, trunk lid seal etc. repainted the heater box and replaced those gaskets. I am putting in the carpet and side panels hopefully this weekend. I will be selling this car as soon as I finish with it. Had to bleed the brakes and found a clog in the read flexible brake line and it has a pin hole in it.
I bought a 1989 VX Cabriolet convertible for my grandson and am nearly finished with it. I knew the battery cable was burnt and other ground wires so I got busy fixing wires behind the fuse panel, replaced battery cable ends and the fuel pump that mounts in the gas tank. Replaced the worn out convertible top, did some body work to remove rust and have to repaint a few spots. Got a small problem with the motor not idling very well and stalls badly when cold but I will work it out. So you know what I will be doing this weekend.
